An Inspiring Adventure in Sukadana: Exploring Nature and Warmth with ASRI
I recently had the extraordinary privilege of visiting Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI) in Sukadana, Indonesia, and it was an experience that will stay with me forever. From the moment I arrived in Kalimantan, I was completely struck by the area’s stunning natural beauty and the incredible warmth and hospitality of the local people.
My time at ASRI was nothing short of amazing. It was incredibly inspiring to see the tangible difference the organization is making in the lives of the local people and the environment. While I was there, I had the chance to dive into their various impactful programs and learn more about the incredible work that they do.

I spent time at the ASRI Medical Center, witnessing firsthand the dedication and care that the staff provide to the community. I also had the opportunity to learn about ASRI’s conservation programs. Witnessing their efforts to protect and preserve the rich biodiversity of Borneo was incredible. The work they do not only safeguards the environment but also builds a strong connection between the community and their natural surroundings.
Another highlight was learning about ASRI’s alternative livelihood programs. These initiatives offer sustainable income sources for the local community and ex-loggers, reducing their dependence on activities that harm the environment. It was amazing to see the creativity and hard work that goes into these programs, and the positive impact they have had on local lives.

The education programs run by ASRI are equally commendable. They empower the next generation with knowledge and skills that will help them build a brighter, more sustainable future.
I was even lucky enough to join in on the ASRI teen’s overnight fieldtrip to Perupuk which was definitely a highlight of my trip. Meeting the students and witnessing their enthusiasm and passion for learning and sustainability was truly heartwarming. I know that they will make an incredible difference in the world.
Sukadana itself is a breathtakingly beautiful place, with vast, life-filled nature all around. Every moment spent there was a reminder of the incredible biodiversity of Borneo. The lush forests, diverse wildlife, and serene landscapes were a constant source of awe and inspiration.
However, what made my trip truly special were the people that I met. The warmth, kindness, and generosity of the locals in Sukadana was unparralled. From the moment I arrived, the staff at ASRI welcomed me with open arms, making me feel right at home. Their passion, knowledge, and dedication for their work and their commitment to making a difference was evident in everything they did. They went above and beyond to ensure I had an enjoyable and enriching experience. Whether it was through sharing their extensive knowledge, guiding me through various programs, or showing me delicious local restaurants and cool swimming spots, the ASRI staff made a profound impact on my trip. I formed some wonderful friendships with many of them and gained valuable insights into their lives and careers, which was deeply inspiring.

In summary, my visit to ASRI was a truly remarkable experience. The beauty of the place, the warmth of the people, and the inspiring work of ASRI made it a trip I will never forget. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible journey and to have witnessed the positive impact that ASRI is making in the world. Terima Kasih ASRI!!!!
