Replication Around Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park

National Scalling
For nearly two decades, ASRI has developed a Planetary Health model integrating community healthcare, forest conservation, and sustainable livelihoods around Gunung Palung and Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Parks. This approach shows that human and environmental health are closely connected and can be strengthened together. Building on this success, ASRI is collaborating with the Ministry of Health of Indonesia to expand the model through the Planetary Health National Scaling Program, particularly in remote, border, and island regions (DTPK) and Indigenous communities. The program develops last-mile healthcare through strengthened community health workers, telemedicine, integration of traditional health knowledge, and innovative logistics systems. It will be piloted in Southwest Papua, South Papua, South Sulawesi, and Central Kalimantan while also supporting the development of national service standards for remote healthcare.

Replicating the ASRI Model in the Forests of Tambrauw
Tambrauw Regency in Southwest Papua is one of Indonesia’s most intact forest landscapes, home to rich biodiversity including birds-of-paradise and Indigenous communities who depend on the forest. A baseline survey by Alam Sehat Lestari Foundation (ASRI) found many households earn around IDR 1.7 million per month with limited access to healthcare. Since 2024, ASRI has begun replicating its Planetary Health approach by integrating healthcare, forest conservation, and sustainable livelihoods to protect forests while improving community well-being.

Planetary Health Education
Planetary Health Education developed by Alam Sehat Lestari Foundation (ASRI) aims to raise awareness about the connection between human health and environmental sustainability. Through workshops, campus programs, community discussions, and youth engagement, ASRI encourages people to understand that protecting forests and nature also protects human well-being. The program helps build knowledge and leadership among young people and communities to take action on climate and environmental challenges through a Planetary Health approach.
